History

St. Susanna School opened September 7, 1948 with 35 students in Grades 1-4. It was staffed by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur from Reading, Ohio. They administered and taught our school until 1980 when they turned the school over to the pastor of St. Susanna Parish.  The original two-classroom building currently holds the cafeteria, the science lab, nurses and assistant principal's offices, the staff workroom, and a fourth grade classroom (Mrs. Cunninham's).  By 1952 the school grew to 133 students.  Two rooms, currently fourth grade classrooms, were built and grades 5-8 were added.  In 1959 the cafeteria with the parish church above was added to the original school building. In 1970 the area where the Office is located was added, and in 1994 the Parish Center wing including the gym. With the completion of a new church in 1990, the area above the cafeteria was converted into a Media Center and classrooms. The newest wing of classrooms opened in the December of 2004. The original chapel has been used for classrooms, as a gym, and currently is a computer lab and a music room.
