Peter Catalanotto Visits St. Susanna School

Peter Catalanotto, who grew up on Long Island and attended the Pratt Institute in New York City, helped the students celebrate “Read Across America Day” on the birthday of Dr. Seuss, March 2. The author/illustrator of children’s books has almost 40 books to his credit and is currently working on another book. Peter shared his artistic talents, drawing for each group of students, while explaining how he gets ideas for what he writes. The first graders remembered that he told the students to collect ideas from real life, then add to these from their imaginations. Peter said to always ask “What if….”

Following his varied presentations for three different levels of students, Peter joined the Eighth Grade “Power of the Pen” team, and Book Club members, for lunch. He concluded his visit by autographing his books for students.

All of the students and teachers extend a big “Thank You” to the PTO for sponsoring this event.
